It’s easier than ever to find it at ListenUp

by admin on Mar.22, 2010, under Audio, Do It Yourself, Video

It’s happened to all of us: We KNOW something we need is under our nose, but we just can’t find it. Most people keep fumbling around, but at ListenUp we’ve done something about it. Specifically, we’ve improved the search tools on our web site.

How’s it different? Let’s say you want to check out Denon products ranging from receivers to headphones and Blu-ray players. Go ahead, type it in and search. You’ll get a great result with photos, text and a price. But let’s say you’re price conscious: select “Price: Low to High” in the pulldown box at the top of the search return and you’ll get a list ranked from lowest to highest price. (Feeling flush? Select High To Low.) Want to browse more quickly? Select the Grid view for photos and prices alone. The left side of the page is filled with even more links (Most popular, as well as by product) that guide you deeper into Denon’s offerings.

In other words: We’ve made it easier than ever to lose yourself browsing at ListenUp, but you’ll never feel lost.

Crestron app turns iPad into a remote

by admin on Feb.23, 2010, under Do It Yourself

crestWe’ve already seen how the iPhone can become a remote control for Sonos wireless audio systems simply by downloading an app. So it only makes sense that the upcoming release of the iPad will see it handle duties beyond the obvious e-reader capabilities that have been a big part of its rollout.

One of the first announced is from Crestron, which has created an iPad App that can use 3G, 3GS or Wi-Fi to communicate with the Crestron system to control lighting, shades, room temperatures and more. Read more about the application in Electronic House Product News.

Curious about Crestron? ListenUp’s an expert in that product and other home automation products. Learn more.

Starting at 4 p.m. Friday, we’ll be doing hourly giveaways all weekend, which you won’t want to miss. Not everyone can win, so we’re also offering special deals that will still put a smile on your face. (Just looking at these pictures should, too.)

You’ll find our new store at 888 Woodmen Road (formerly the home of Drexel Heritage Furniture), where we have completely remodeled the entire building. We now have twice as much space to showcase the latest products, as well as multiple lifestyle vignettes in which we can demonstrate the latest flat-panel TVs, energy-saving home automation and control systems, and architectural speaker solutions that deliver engaging sound without taking up any valuable floor space.

If you just need a single component or a new pair of speakers, we’ve got you covered, too, with an even larger selection than in the old store. We’ve got beautiful high-performance audio systems comprised of world-class components, as well as more affordable items such as compact powered speakers that let you get the most out of your computer-based music. There’s also a greatly expanded headphone display with a variety of models that can make your iPhone or iPod really sing! More cool features for Sonos ZonePlayer

by admin on Oct.27, 2009, under Audio, Do It Yourself

ZonePlayer S5 has a built-in amplifier and stereo speakers

ZonePlayer S5 has a built-in amplifier and stereo speakers

UPDATE: A new update for the Sonos operating system will give ZonePlayer S5 owners  additional streaming ability and some other cool features.

The Sonos ZonePlayer S5 has been a popular item the moment it rolled out last fall for  audiophiles craving wireless control of their systems. Partially because of its affordability ($399) and also because it could be managed through an iPhone or iPod Touch. It didn’t hurt when influential New York Times tech guru David Pogue praised the S5. (This recent review offers praise as well.)

So what do you get? It’s a one-piece tabletop client with built-in amplifier and stereo speakers. Like Sonos clients that connect to separate passive speakers or existing stereo systems, the S5 wirelessly streams PC- and network-attached storage-stored music and, via a networked broadband modem, Internet music sources. Here’s another cool aspect of the product: iPhone and iPod Touch owners can use a free, downloadable app to send commands via a Wi-Fi network to one or more S5 clients or Sonos’ other clients. You can learn more and buy one at ListenUp.
