Here's where you can find out a little more about some of our valued associates, who average 17 years in the A/V business and 12 years with ListenUp.
Store Manager
An A/V veteran for 9 years, Colorado Springs store manager David Huddleston came to us from Phoenix. Down there in the Valley of the Sun he owned his own custom integration company and then worked for a leading home entertainment custom retailer. After one too many people uttered the phrase “Yeah, but it’s a dry heat,” he decided it was time for a change, so he loaded up his family and headed north.
“Working at ListenUp has exceeded my expectations. As a dedicated A/V enthusiast myself, it’s really cool to work at a place where the entire organization strives to stay ahead of the curve technologically. It’s a ‘learners’ environment — everyone is very diligent about keeping up with the latest stuff, which I find really stimulating and fun.”
Now that they don’t have to worry about instant heat-stroke, David and his family love to take advantage of the many recreational activities Colorado has to offer. “We love mountain biking, hiking, four-wheeling, fishing — anything outdoors. This year we’re even going to
try skiing.”
Remember, David, it gets kind of chilly up there in the hills — but it’s a dry cold.

Jonathan Derda was literally born into audio/video, as his dad has been in the A/V business for well over 30 years. Jonathan grew up working in his family’s store in South Bend, Indiana, and at home he enjoyed high-end sound from his dad’s Carver tube amps and B&W 801 speakers. Today, Jonathan is our jack-of-all-trades, as his duties include sales, managing the installation department and doing a lot of our custom programming.
“Having been exposed to it all my life, I’m really passionate about 2-channel music reproduction,” he says. “I think 2-channel sales are on the upswing. Contrary to popular opinion, the younger generation is rejuvenating hi-fi. There’s a lot of interest in products like the new Musical Fidelity DAC with USB connection that can make a person’s digital music files sound as good as possible.”
Jonathan just got married in April of 2007, and he and his new bride survived a honeymoon in Italy. “We were in three car accidents in two weeks,” he says with a smile, “and while we were on a bike tour, I tumbled down a pretty big hill while trying to take a picture of my wife. We felt like the Griswolds in the Vacation movies.”
Fortunately, Jonathan made it back in one piece, so feel free to come in and ask him any questions — except about his honeymoon.

Parker Taub grew up in Dallas, but like so many of his fellow Texans he fell in love with Colorado after several visits. As an Eagle Scout he used to teach archery and horsemanship at a summer camp here in the Centennial State, and he always knew that at some point he would migrate north full-time.
That time came in 2003, when he moved to the Springs without any specific prospects. His leap-of-faith was rewarded, though, as he quickly landed a gig with a regional electronics chain. After working there for several years, he came to us at ListenUp, where he thought a smaller, more high-end dealer might suit him better.
“Even in middle school, I was an early adopter,” says Parker n describing his longtime love affair with A/V. “I always saved all my money for the latest upgrade of my system.” As a confirmed two-channel enthusiast, Parker is happy that many of ListenUp’s customers are still adamant about achieving a true high-fidelity musical experience. But he’ll also gladly help you design a complete Smart Home or even a video-game oriented home theater system!
