California’s Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986, a ‘right to know’ law better known as Proposition 65, requires the State of California to publish a list of chemicals known to cause cancer or birth defects or other reproductive harm; this list now exceeds over 900 substances. California requires the following warning for residents of California who purchase items that may contain chemical elements from this list:
