Eversolo DAC-Z10 Review
The Eversolo DAC-Z10 isn’t just another DAC/headphone amp—it’s a dual-mono AKM design with an R2R resistor ladder volume control that sounds effortless, detailed, and musical.
The Eversolo DAC-Z10 is more than a typical DAC—it’s a high-precision DAC/preamp/headphone amp designed for listeners who want both technical performance and musical ease. Scotty G’s sits down to give us his thoughts after hands-on time with the kind of component that makes you pause and actually listen.
Inside, the DAC-Z10 runs a dual-mono AKM design, giving each channel its own AK4191 and AK4499EX chipset. That architecture is aimed at improved separation and clarity, and Eversolo pairs it with impressive published performance figures for distortion and dynamic range.
A standout feature is the R2R resistor ladder volume control. Instead of a standard digital volume implementation, the DAC-Z10 uses a hardware ladder for left and right channels, helping volume changes stay clean and natural without “smearing” the signal—especially helpful for low-level listening.
Connectivity is another strength: USB audio, AES, I2S, optical, coax, and even HDMI ARC/eARC if you want to integrate a TV. On the analog side, you get balanced XLR and RCA, plus extra gain on tap if your system needs it. For headphones, there’s a front ¼-inch jack with enough power to drive a wide range of cans, and support for high-res formats up to PCM 768kHz/32-bit and DSD512.
Sound-wise, Scotty describes the Eversolo DAC-Z10 as effortless—detailed, but not sterile—along with a confident headphone output and strong performance as a preamp into active speakers or a power amp. If you’re already running Eversolo gear, it pairs naturally with the Eversolo T8 or DMP streamers, becoming a clean “anchor” for the whole setup. One note: it’s very transparent, so weak links upstream can be easier to hear.
