KLH Model 3, Model 5, and Model 7 Speakers: Classic Acoustic Suspension Sound Reimagined
KLH’s iconic acoustic suspension speakers are back. We break down the new Model 3, Model 5, and Model 7—and help you choose the right one for your listening room.
Few speaker brands carry the legacy of KLH Audio. Founded in 1957 by Henry Kloss and his partners, KLH helped define high-fidelity sound with the invention of acoustic suspension speaker design—and that heritage is alive and well in the modern KLH Model 3, Model 5, and Model 7 loudspeakers.
In our latest video, Scotty G from ListenUp sits down with Josh from KLH to explore what makes this speaker lineup so special—and why it’s resonating with today’s music lovers.
What Is Acoustic Suspension—and Why Does It Matter?
Unlike ported (bass reflex) designs, all three KLH models use sealed cabinets. This allows the air inside the enclosure to control woofer movement, resulting in bass that’s tighter, deeper, and more accurate, even at higher volumes. It also makes these speakers far more forgiving when it comes to room placement.
Model 3 vs Model 5 vs Model 7
- KLH Model 3: A compact two-way speaker that works beautifully on bookshelves or near walls—ideal for smaller rooms or vintage-inspired setups.
- KLH Model 5: Often considered the “Goldilocks” of the lineup, this three-way design offers exceptional balance and room-filling sound.
- KLH Model 7: The flagship. With the largest cabinet volume and highest power handling, the Model 7 delivers effortless dynamics and deep, controlled bass for larger listening spaces.
Designed for Real Rooms
Each KLH speaker includes a room-tuning acoustic attenuation switch, allowing you to adjust the midrange and treble to better match brighter or more reflective spaces. Add in real wood veneer finishes, magnetic grilles, and included angled stands, and you get a speaker that’s as practical as it is beautiful.
