Fabulous Sounding AM / FM Tuner
I recently purchased a McIntosh MR89 to replace an older MR85. I was very excited to listen after McIntosh's information about increased sensitivity, better sound, and the added features of RDS. Living in the St. Louis Metropolitan area, we have lots of FM radio stations. My MR85 could pick up 16 of them, but only game me 10 total presets. My new MR89 picks up 31 stations, some of which I didn't know existed in the area. The sound? Most AM/FM tuners out there have low signal-to-noise ratios, but my MR85 actually had bass response whereas the older tuners I have used did not, nor did they sound "Dynamic." Our new MR89 has a sound that can be compared to CD quality when tuning in stations in the area and my wife has commented about the exceptional sound quality from our new MR89. In-Short, we love the new MR89, love the sound, love the excellent FM sensitivity, love the RDS features, and as always with McIntosh: Just Beautiful! After three weeks, not a single down-side: The MR89 fires-up every day, filling our home with CD quality music, and we just love it. We highly recommend McIntosh's newest offering with the MR89. #Fabulous!
