Those who question its sonics, I'd question their hearing? The Mc152 has its transformers so its sound is across-the-board. Mcs have a distinct sound as the sonics go through the autotransformers before it reaches its output transformers. You get neutrality but with a small bent of darkness because of its autotransformers. Hence, the Mc152 can never sound bright; It might sound colored? If it does and it does, it is because of the autotransformers lay before the output transsistors...so what the output transistors receive has already gone through the autotransformers. McIntosh's output transistors are not noted for their sound but their ability to "Self-Regulate" and remain stable and consistent. What they receive has already been filtered and scrubbed.
Despite the MC152's classic McIntosh appearance and sturdy build, the sound didn't quite meet my expectations. It felt a bit too clinical, lacking the warmth and musicality I typically associate with the brand. The bass impact was decent, but the mids and highs seemed a bit thin, especially when cranking up the volume. Given the price, I was hoping for a more engaging and immersive listening experience.
