I am really happy with the Rotel CD14MK2 CD Player. I'm hearing little tell tale sounds that I've never heard before from certain Cds in my collection.
I think that the Rotel CD14MK2 CD Player is as good as a Cd player can get without breaking the bank. To get something better, thousands would have to be spent for about a 2% improvement in fidelity.
Only one very small complaint, the motor is a little noisy and can be heard from about 18 inches from the player when the amp's volume is turned off. Of course, it can't be heard when the volume is turned on.
I called Rotel and they said that it is "normal". Very minor issue but I think that should be corrected. (I have a cheap Sony Cd player that's 20 yrs old and it's dead silent.)

When doing research for this player, the only issue seemed to be that it might repeatedly play the last track. I found that to be true and it was something I could live with. Since I usually play discs using the display track time function. For some reason, it would randomly add one hour to the time, which makes no difference whatsoever. Finally, during the first week of playing, the discs would occasionally stop in the middle. It happened about half dozen times. I was keeping track, thinking I might ask to return or replace it, if it kept happening (using Listen Up's policy-the reason for purchasing from them). After a couple more times it happened, one day, the unit rebooted. It shut off and turned back on. I've played at least 7 cds all the way through and it's played perfectly. It's even rare that the last track repeats.
Having said all that, I couldn't be happier with the sound. I've always loved the stereo effect of music, but this brings it to another level. The separation of instruments such as bass and guitar is something I hadn't expected.
