Our old Sony CD player was a tank of a player and it finally bit the dust after 20+ years. We tried out several CD players and transports ranging from about $500 to $2200 from consumer direct companies, the new wave of Chinese audio, and European hi fi. Also though we liked a "pot lid" style transport, it wasn't practical for our set up. It was a pain to have to pull it out in order to change the disc. It was down to this one, and $2200 one, and it was a case of diminishing returns. This one was so close that both agreed this was the pick. No need to spend the extra money. This had it all. Great build quality, great sound (with RCAs, can't wait to get the XLRs hooked up) and flexibility. It is an incredible bang for the buck. The Black Friday discount was a huge bonus! This is our first Rotel piece, and I have a feeling it won't be our last. I have been browsing and shopping at ListenUp since the 1980s and I don't plan on stopping. :)
