Just upgraded from my trusty 2011 Marantz AV7005 to the AV7706, and the difference is night and day! The features and sound processing on this new unit are top-notch, definitely a big step up after 11 years in the lineup. My setup includes a 5.2.2 system with B&W CMS2 speakers, NHT 200 watt amps, HSU/Earthquake 15" subs, SVS Prime Altos (added later), and source units like Oppo and PS4, along with a Panasonic 3D Plasma Display. After getting everything connected and fine-tuned with room correction, I dove into some hi-rez 2.0/5.1 music on sacd, dvd audio, and Blu-ray. Wow, the processing improvements in 11 years are crystal clear � less muddy sound and advanced room correction compared to the first gen. Atmos processing for front "height" also added a whole new dimension to Atmos encoded movies, making them sound much fuller (results may vary by movie). Bottom line, I highly recommend the AV7706.
Received the unit, labeled as an open-box return, but it seemed like it had never been touched � not a single fingerprint in sight! Must've been a quick 24-hour change of heart return. Lucky find for me! Still getting acquainted with the unit, so I won't dive too deep yet. It seamlessly integrated into my system, and the out-of-the-box setup sounded pretty darn good. That classic Marantz smooth and engaging sound signature.
