I recently upgraded to this AVR (on clearance) from an (admittedly entry-level) Denon S760H to take advantage of the built-in Dirac Live as I have an oddly shaped room that bested the Denon's room correction software. After taking the time to run Dirac from my PC with a Umik-1 microphone, the sound through my ELAC Uni-Fi Reference Bookshelf Speakers (among (among other speakers in our system) is very noticeably tighter, cleaner at high volumes, and more refined throughout the frequency spectrum. I encourage you to try Dirac Live, be it on this AVR or another. The Integra DRX-3.4 is a similar unit but has a bit less power per channel and would be a great option for someone upgrading from an entry-level AVR. The sound quality enhancement on my system was really quite obvious across the spectrum.
