All About Ortofon
Ortofon is a Danish audio equipment manufacturer with a rich heritage dating back to 1918, when it was founded as Electrical Phono Film Company by engineers Axel Petersen and Arnold Poulsen. The company initially focused on sound systems for cinemas but gained worldwide recognition for its high-quality phono cartridges, which they began producing in the 1940s.The brand name "Ortofon" was created by combining the Greek words "orthos" (correct) and "phone" (sound), reflecting the company's commitment to accurate sound reproduction. Throughout its history, Ortofon has been at the forefront of cartridge technology, developing numerous innovations including the moving coil (MC) cartridge design, which revolutionized vinyl playback quality.
Today, Ortofon continues to be a leading manufacturer of phono cartridges, ranging from entry-level models to ultra-high-end audiophile products. Their cartridges are known for their precision engineering, superior tracking ability, and faithful sound reproduction.
