CARBON DOME TWEETER
Carbon Dome tweeters are a brand new technology purpose-built for the 700 Series. Delivering a dramatic improvement on the aluminium Double-dome tweeter, they raise the breakup threshold to 47kHz, for pinpoint imaging accuracy and detail.
CONTINUUM CONE
First introduced with the 800 Series Diamond, the Continuum cone represents the biggest step-change in midrange performance since Kevlar®. Its woven coated material provides highly controlled break-up, resulting in a more open, neutral midrange.
MIDRANGE CHASSIS
The three floor-standing loudspeakers in the range employ a new FEA-optimised aluminium chassis for the midrange drivers. This new design is stiffer than the zinc chassis of the CM Series, for improved control and cleaner midrange presentation.
AEROFOIL PROFILE CONE
The new Aerofoil Profile bass cone has the same variable thickness design as the bass cones in 800 Series Diamond speakers. Developed using advanced computer modeling techniques, it provides stiffness and rigidity where it’s needed most, for deep and dynamic bass.
DECOUPLED MIDRANGE
The midrange drivers in the floor-standers also feature a decoupled design, adapted from a similar system in the 800 Series Diamond. Decoupling reduces cabinet colouration, and further improves midrange clarity.

I recommend this product

I was touched when I listened to songs from this Michi X5

My loudspeakers are B&W 703 S2 that I also purchased from Listenup. Michi's amplifiers are not as warm as Rotel's. Michi X5 sounds more details than Rotel's power amplifiers. In other words, Rotel's amplifiers are warmer than Michi's in sounding. Some people say that Michi's amplifiers sound neutral. I like the sound quality of Michi X5 better than Rotel's amplifiers. The combination of B&W 703S2 and Michi X5 does not sound harsh in high frequency range. It sounds excellent. In fact, this combination sounds good in low, mid and high frequencies - punchy bass, excellent voice, and detailed high frequencies. When I heard the Rod Steward's "Have I told you lately" and Kenny Roger's "You and I" with Michi X5 using the onboard DAC through USB-B port, I was touched so much that I felt that I heard these songs for the very first time, which had happened more than 30 years ago. Do yourself a favor, and go get this Michi X5. If you are the first-time Listenup buyer, you can register your e-mail on Listenup's website. Then, they will e-mail you a 10% discount code valid for a week. I bought this item brand new for less $5,000 plus tax. I mainly use the USB-B port on Michi X5 that connects to my computer. Although the onboard 32-bit/768kHz AKM AK4495SEQ chip is not the top of the line which is AKM's AK4499 as of January 2024, the piano sounds from this on-board DAC sounds more realistic than an external DAC SMSL-SU10 with dual ES9038PRO D/A chips from ESS. The Michi X5 Series 2 (Not this model that I am writing about) uses a single ES9028PRO chip. Based on my own experience and others' reviews, the differences between ES90x8 PRO Series and AKM's AK449x chips are that ESS's ES90x8 PRO sound smooth, and the AKM 449x chips sound a little more details than ESS's ES90x8 PRO. In terms of sounds from violins and cellos, both chips have their own strengths and weaknesses. Listenup shipped this item in freight by a company named Expeditors. I ordered this item online on Thursday, January 4, 2024. On Friday, January 5, 2024, a lady from Listenup called and verified the purchase. On Monday, January 8, Listenup called the above freight company to ship this item to me. I received the shipment tracking number on Wednesday, January 10. You can track the freight's movement on the Expeditors' web site (There is no link in the email that Listenup sent to me unlike the UPS shipments used by Listenup, I have to Google it by using the shipment number). The Expeditors did not contact me before they delivered this item to my residence. When they were outside my house, they called me. Therefore, you need to check tracking events on Expeditor's website. I received the Michi X5 on Tuesday, January 16 in New York City. The Michi X5 was tied down to a 3 foot-by-3 foot wooden board that can be lift by a fork lift. The Michi X5 was wrapped with black plastic covers. The total shiping weight is 167 lbs. I just cut the tie-down straps with a knife and then removed the Michi X5 box from the bottom wooden board. You don't need a power driver to remove the Michi X5 from the bottom board that is used by a fork lift. By the way, people from Expeditors and employees from Listenup are helpful and friendly. I recommend Michi X5 and also recommend Listenup.com
