As with all Perlisten loudspeakers, the R5t is centred around the DPC array, comprising of three 26mm soft domes in a vertical array. The centre dome is the HF unit, covering frequencies above 4.4kHz. A carefully formed waveguide controls horizontal dispersion to reduce side wall reflections. The same waveguide restricts vertical dispersion even more so, vastly reducing floor and ceiling reflections.
The flanking 26mm midrange domes cover between 1.25kHz and 4.4kHz, producing a more responsive midrange that far less coloured by what would conventionally be a larger driver. Their dispersion is also controlled in line with the HF unit. The DPC array sits between two 6.5" drivers covering from 1.25kHz downwards, and is ported out at the bottom of the cabinet, making them more rear-wall friendly. This downward firing port can be fully plugged, providing the performance of a sealed, acoustic suspension cabinet. This results in a more even frequency response across its range, as well as better transient response.
Used in sealed mode as a bass limited monitor, as you would most likely do in a multi-channel home theatre set up with a subwoofer, the R5t will cover 80Hz-20kHz within a very narrow +/-1.5dB deviation, and produce a peak output of 111dB. All of this tech helps the R5t achieve a THX Dominus rating, capable of effortlessly filling large rooms with cinema levels of sound quality. Used in ported mode as a pair of hi-fi loudspeakers, the R5t still achieve a THX Ultra rating.
R5T TOWER
The R5 Tower is designed as a stand alone 2ch high fidelity speaker with the versatility to be used as part of Perlisten's multi-channel systems and Shares "trickle-down" technology from their flagship S-Series. Prepare to experience what rivals many flagship speakers.
R SERIES SYSTEM
The Patent Pending DPC-Array for the R series is based on three 26mm domes and guarantees the same excellent directivity control of it’s big brother the S7t while being timbre matched with all R-Series speakers. The Silk diaphragms developed ground up, chosen specifically for their smooth, effortless representation of midrange and treble. The 165mm woofers are made from the Perlisten's proprietary HPF pulp, two years in development, bringing new technology to one of the oldest materials used in loudspeaker design. These woofers can be aligned as bass reflex or acoustic suspension depending on specific tastes creating rich, dynamic bass matched with advanced mid/treble directivity pattern control.
HPF CONE
Keeping up with the S series is difficult task so Perlisten Audio had to develop a new cone formulation made of mixed long fiber hardwood, Bamboo, and wool. The amazing properties of strength, mass, and damping stay true to the sound of any nuance or transient the R5t is asked to reproduce without introducing coloration.
