The Smart Home Division Mark of Excellence Awards recognize ground-breaking residential custom installation projects performed by professional integrators and are judged by an independent panel of industry experts. At the 2021 Mark of Excellence Awards, ListenUp was named Runner-Up in two categories.
ListenUp's Galbraith Project was announced as Runner-Up for the 2021 Custom Home of the Year. Located in Sedalia, Colorado with a spectacular view of the Rockies, the Galbraith Project is a total showstopper featuring stunning urban-contemporary design with Asian influences. Adjacent to the living room, powered doors open at the touch of a button to create a large indoor/outdoor living area. The deck offers a professional-grade grill and outdoor dining area, with a 43-inch outdoor TV that's fully weatherproof. Inside the house, on each side of the spectacular fireplace is a 65-inch Sony OLED 4K TV mounted on a lift so it can disappear completely into the ceiling when not in use.
Runner-Up for Specialty Project of the Year was ListenUp’s Lowry Project. The Lowry’s had already upgraded their Control4 control system with ListenUp when they had reached out to Senior Sales Consultant Dusty Groski to build the project’s unique outdoor entertainment system. The Lowry’s were interested in lighting, shades, audio and system control for their outdoor entertaining pool area. The pièce de résistance is the high tech pergola, which contains an 85-inch 4K UHD TV. “We were able to get a larger size than is usually available in the outdoor arena. The kids can float in the pool and it’s like a drive-in,” says ListenUp’s Dusty Gorski.

Congratulations to ListenUp’s President Benjamin Larkin who made Dealerscope’s 2020 40 Under 40 list. Ben has spent over 21 years in the consumer technology industry and has celebrated dozens of milestones and accomplishments throughout his career.
“I am proudest of those that have made an impact on others and helped drive our company and the CE industry forward. Accomplishments related to the growth of others around me are the most important to me,” says Ben. What Ben likes most about his position is having the ability to help others succeed in their careers while working with the latest in home and commercial technologies.

Each year the Consumer Technology Association hosts the Smart Home Division Mark of Excellence Awards. The awards recognize some of the best residential and commercial custom installation projects performed by integrators and span eighteen product and six project categories.
Daihl ResidenceIn 2019, ListenUp’s very own Kevin Russell won Retrofit Project of the Year for his work on the jaw-dropping Daihl Residence. Kevin, the Lead Integrator on the project, has been working with Ed and Sallie Daihl for the past thirty years. Facing the Rockies, The Daihl Residence sits with a breathtaking view overlooking Buffalo Mountain and Devil’s Head lookout. The retrofit, located in Castle Rock, is a complete Control4 controlled project with two home theater areas; one downstairs and one in Ed’s office.
Kevin worked hard to make sure all wiring and proof-of-technology was well hidden from the naked eye and aesthetically integrated into the architecture of the home. Kevin owes much of the project’s success to Project Manager Justyn Born and the two Lead Technicians, Matt Andreasen and Nate Meyer. With Justyn living so close to the Daihls, he has made himself available on many last minute occasions.
Congratulations to the Denver Team for their hard work and dedication! See the full description of the project here.

Prosource, the merchandising group for A/V dealers and custom integrators, honored ListenUp as PRO Member of the Year. According to the group’s president Dave Workman, the award is based on a multitude of factors including support of group brands, member participation, conducting business in a manner that stands as an example to other members, and overall reputation within the industry.
“By all measures, ListenUp not only checks all these boxes but stands as one of the finest examples of excellence within our dealer roster,” stated Dave. In turn, President Walt Stinson attributed ListenUp’s success to ProSource’s “great vendor programs” and “crucial support” in marketing, logistics, and back-office best practices.

Congratulations to our Albuquerque team on winning the 2018 Mark of Excellence award from Consumer Technology Association (CTA) for “Multi-room Audio/Video Project of the Year.”
This Roswell, NM property includes a 10,000-square-foot main house and a separate two-story building with a six-car garage. Our customers wanted to be able to access A/V sources in the main building from both floors of the garage, so the buildings are connected by 10-GB fiber optic cabling.
This Crestron Certified Project has distributed audio/video, front-gate access, garage doors, lighting and shade control, security cameras and more.

ListenUp: Strength in Diversity
“In the ‘About Us’ section of Denver, Colo.-based ListenUp’s Web site, the store founders’ 1972 employee cards are shown, complete with photos of the energetic faces of founders Walt and Mary Stinson and Steve Weiner. Although time has passed, that energy hasn’t dissipated, having enabled this Denver, Colo.-based retailer to expertly steer through 44 years of industry and economic ups and downs that have left other CE retailers in the dust…”
