Longtime ListenUp client Carlos has been into stereos since he was in his late teens — back in the '60s, early '70s. He first walked into ListenUp's flagship showroom on Pearl Street in Denver in 1981.

"I’m pretty familiar with audio dealers and dealerships, so I can tell a good one from a bad one just by looking at what they’re selling. At that time, ListenUp was really the only viable choice, and like a lot of crazy people buying stereos, I was buying and swapping all the time. I was looking for a good dealership, and it was obvious that ListenUp was the place to go in Denver," says Carlos.

Klipsch Klipschorns are the star of the systemSenior Sales Consultant Scott Genaw worked with Carlos to build the ultimate Klipsch home, which includes a pair of Klipschorns, Fortes, and Heresys. "[Scott] is a delight. He's fun. He gives me objective feedback. He makes recommendations that I think are earnest and thoughtful. I've never seen him try and get me to buy something that I didn't need. He always has price points as a consideration if I have expressed some concerns about not spending too much money," says Carlos on working with Scott Genaw.

The main system in the house is placed in a very big room — around 26 feet wide and about 40 feet deep — so it was important that Carlos found something that would fill that sound space. The main media system features two Klipsch Klipschorns in the front corners of the space, each speaker accompanied by an REL 212/SX subwoofer and a PrimaLuna EVO400 monoblock tube amplifier. The system also features a Technics SL-1200G turntable with a Lyra Delos moving coil cartridge, a Moon 390 digital music streamer, and a McIntosh C2700 preamplifier. Two Klipsch Heresy speakers are used as rear fill when Carlos is entertaining. Carlos loves this setup, “No complaints whatsoever. It’s a huge sound that’s very dynamic. It just absolutely fills the room. It’s like you’re at an IMAX theater. It’s just spectacular, and I’m happy as a clam. I can’t imagine anything I would switch out.”

Scott and Carlos admire the spaceBecause one system is never enough for a true audiophile, the home also features a media system in the lofted area. A 77” Sony A9G OLED TV is the main focal point, making it the ideal spot in the house for movie nights. The system also features two Klipsch Forte speakers, a Klipsch R52C center channel, two Klipsch R52C rear left and right speakers, and a Sony STR-DN1080 surround receiver.
