HiFi Rose RS250 Network Streamer & RS201E All-In-One Streamer & Amplifier, plus an in-depth video review of the RS150B Network Streamer.
Remember when smartphones first came out? People didn’t really get it—at least not right away. “Phones are about making calls. Why would I need anything more?” was the general consensus. That’s because we were so tied to the traditional idea of a phone and what it’s supposed to do for us that we weren’t able to see the need for something as comprehensive as a smartphone—until we had one. Now it’s hard to imagine life without them.
In a lot of ways, that’s where we are with music streamers. Yes, the brilliant engineers at many of our favorite audio companies have figured out how to make them sound good—almost as good as a physical source—kudos engineers! And, they give us easy access to an unlimited catalog of high-resolution music with little more than a few swipes and taps. Life is good right? Well, it has the potential to get a whole lot better. Thanks to HiFi Rose.
HiFi Rose offers a complete line of music streamers, with features that read like an audiophile wishlist—high-performance DAC, ultra-high resolution decoding, complete streaming service support. In fact, here’s what The Absolute Sound had to say about the flagship RS150B “I’ve never heard streaming quality like this before.” Indeed, these are amazing sounding streamers. But again, that’s only part of what makes them game-changers.
Watch our interview with Lenny from HiFi Rose below, breaking down the all-new RS150B High-Performance Network Streamer.
Made in South Korea by a company with years of experience building interactive airport kiosk designed to assist travelers in the world’s busiest airports, HiFi Rose understands user experience. That’s right, in addition to audio they are leaders in interactive digital displays that integrate screen graphics and various apps to transform relatively standard tasks into amazing experiences that let you accomplish more and have a lot of fun while doing it. “It is this ability to take a single function component and find so many other useful functions that sets these streamers apart,” says Lenny Mayeux, a HiFi Rose distributor. “It’s a lifestyle component not just an audiophile component. My family uses it as much as I do.”
The RS150B and RS250 streamers along with the RS201E integrated amplifier and streamer, all feature a high-resolution IPS multi-touch panel where all of the functions are displayed. Tap on a function and the screen springs to life, opening up an engaging experience that lets you see and do more. For example, when listening to music tracks from your favorite streaming service, the HiFi Rose will display album artwork in brilliant, full color detail, along with in-depth artist info pulled from various sources on the web for a unique, curated experience. Aside from album cover art, the display can simulate a vintage clock radio, the front panel of an old-school FM tuner, or a pair of classic VU meters.
Another great feature is Rose Tube. This function scans YouTube for only the highest resolution videos and live performances of your favorite artists and puts them into a curated list on the device to be viewed in Ultra HD 4K on the display or your TV via HDMI out. And, it’s not just music related video, HiFi Rose will pull TV shows and movies and arrange them in a convenient playlist ready for viewing. It will even remove all the commercials! These streamers perform similarly with other sources of media, including podcasts and internet radio, retrieving the desired content based on your search criteria and serving it up via an interface that is simple and intuitive.
It basically takes the often complex, cumbersome digital media setup, created by piecing together multiple components from a variety of sources, and makes it super simple and seamless. That’s why the term “network streamers'' doesn't really do them justice. They are really more of a complete media system—the smartphones of HiFi components.
If you are looking for a high quality streamer with an exceptional DAC, I encourage you to check any one of the network streamers from HiFi Rose. Not only will they check the superior sound box but also many more, completely changing your expectations of digital music and home media in general—the experience is that good.
