Cambridge Integrated Amplifier Rundown: AXR100, CXA81, Edge A

August 07, 2023

Yes, they offer plenty of detail and refinement like many modern day performance amplifiers. But the secret sauce in Cambridge Integrated Amplifiers is a little more about feeling the music completely as opposed to just hearing it clearly.

What does that mean? It means a sound signature that isn’t overly focused on hyper clarity, which can sometimes seem clinical and a bit sterile. These amplifiers leave room for the soul and texture of the music to seep through. In other words, they have a way of encouraging the listener to engage in the song as a whole and not just all the little details that comprise it. Those details are there to be sure—so don’t fret audiophiles. They are just not so incredibly forward that you lose perspective of the complete performance.
