Chora 816 is the 2.5-way floorstanding loudspeaker from the Chora line. With its two speaker drivers with 61/2" (16.5 cm) Slatefiber cone working in harmony in the bass, it is especially suited for Home Cinema set-ups. It is the ideal fit for rooms measuring up to 323 ft2 (30 m2).
The Chora 816 model is a 2.5-way bass-reflex floorstanding loudspeaker. Its woofer and midrange/bass speaker driver, both equipped with the Slatefiber cone, work in perfect harmony for a voluptuous sound reproduction and a perfect bass impact. The sound finds its full dimension in your listening room, with a dynamic midrange and remarkable power handling. A front port is placed below the loudspeaker to reduce distortion and, thanks to the tilt of the loudspeaker stand, Time Alignment provides a soundstage focused on the listener.
The TNF Aluminium/Magnesium tweeter! SOFT AND PRECISE TREBLE!
The surround linking the dome to its stand uses a memory foam material called Poron. This surround is directly derived from the Utopia's famous Beryllium tweeter and reduces distortion by a third between 2,000Hz and 3,000Hz, the ear's high-sensitivity range. The spatialisation and very low directionality of the inverted dome allow silky trebles to be heard from any point in your listening room.
The Slatefiber cone! PERFECTLY BALANCED SOUND!
Slatefiber technology, exclusive to Focal, involves the use of recycled, non-woven carbon fibres applied as a sandwich between two layers of thermoplastic polymer. In their quest for perfection, Focal engineers have opted to use non-woven carbon fibres, all pointing in the same direction to achieve even greater rigidity and better damping. Manufactured in the Focal workshops using an ultra-modern industrial tool, the effect of the cone provides better damping and rigidity, but also lightness, the three essentials of a good speaker driver.
A SLEEK, MODERN DESIGN
The Chora range boasts a modern design, all lifted onto a tilted stand for Time Alignment, which provides an optimal soundstage, more focused on the listener. The slate colour of the Slatefiber cone adds a final refined, authentic touch.
Chora is available in three On-trend colours that blend into different interiors and lend them a unique aesthetic signature.

Dedicated bass for dynamic sound
This 2.5-way Focal speaker has a dedicated bass woofer in each speaker. Almost like having a mini subwoofer in each speaker, this speaker layout provides a deeper, more solid bass response. Ideal for under-pinning all-action soundtracks or stadium music alike, the Chora 816 delivers smooth, powerful bass.
Time alignment gives enhanced cohesion
The Chora 816 features a time alignment stand. This tilts the speaker upwards, meaning the sound from the tweeter and woofer is aligned in the time it takes to reach your ears. Time alignment provides better interaction between treble and mid-range, making the music sound more cohesive and ‘together’ across the frequency response.
