Bowers & Wilkins' Andy Kerr Talks 801 D4
Join Andy Kerr from Bower & Wilkins and ListenUp’s Scott Genaw for a deep dive into the landmark 801 D4.
All it takes is a glance at this iconic loudspeaker, and their brilliance is revealed. Available in stunning wood-grain or gloss black/white cabinets with leather trim and a newly anodized top tweeter, you could sit and stare at these speakers all day and likely feel content.
But of course, aesthetics are just a small part of the experience. Hook the 801 up to a capable amplifier and you are immediately transported to a sanctuary of sonic bliss. Listen to some of your favorite tracks and experience detail, depth, and emotion like never before. You’ll discover hidden gems in familiar recordings that feel like they’ve been waiting for a loudspeaker evolution like the 801 to set them free.
What evolution exactly? The entire 800 Series has improvements in many of the breakthrough features Bowers & Wilkins is known for, including signature Diamond dome tweeters, Continuum cones, and Matrix cabinets. However, the biggest news is the revolutionary new Biomimetic Suspension in the mid-range cone. This advancement dramatically reduces the unwanted air pressure and coloration conventional cones can generate. The result? Midrange transparency not thought possible.
The following is a summary of some of the more significant advancements in the new 800 Series Diamond:
Revolutionary Biomimetic Suspension: Superior midrange transparency
Elongated Solid Body Tweeter: Improved high-frequency performance
Reverse Wrap Cabinet In More Models: Enhances sound dispersion
Aluminum Cabinet Top Plate: Improves acoustic performance
The 800 Series Diamond range continues to feature seven models, beginning with the two-way 805 D4 stand-mount speaker, followed by a series of three-way floor-standing models the 804 D4, 803 D4, and 802 D4. For the flagship model in the range, Bowers & Wilkins is pleased to reintroduce the iconic 801 D4. For home theater, the HTM81 D4 and HTM82 D4 provide a pair of high-performance center channel speakers to complete the range.
